James Ingram
James Ingram arrived in Beechworth in 1855 from Dumfriesshire, Scotland. He initially set up home in a tent on Ford Street. He went on to establish the local newsagency, which is still used today and where his name can still be seen above the shop. James Ingram is best remembered for his impressive community involvement and his contribution to education and health services in Beechworth.
