Gold Prospecting & Fossicking

In Victoria, a prospector or fossicker requires a Miner’s Right which is a permit to prospect for minerals on unreserved Crown Land or private land where the permission of the landowner has been granted.

A Victorian Miners Right is valid for 2 years and can be purchased for $29.90 from the Beechworth Visitor Information Centre. For more information visit the Department of Primary Industries

Collection includes petrified wood, petrified fern, malachite, minerals, gem stones, opals, crystals, and local stones such as smokey quartz crystal, crystal, garnets & agates. Some made into jewellery.
