Close your eyes and taste…the feast we’ve prepared for you from an abundance of locally grown produce. Perhaps it’s because we’ve nurtured and tended the soil for thousands of years, or because of North East Victoria’s unsurpassed natural beauty that our quality gourmet foods and cool climate wines made from local fruit, will take your breath away.

Given the diverse landscape and our distinct four seasons, the abundance and quality of our rural produce is of little surprise. Our produce is fresh from the farm door or picked straight from green pastures.

You’ll be able to taste the love that is poured into our fruit, vegetables, honey, nuts and preserves – celebrated at our annual Harvest Festival and showcased in our excellent restaurants, cafes, bakeries, breweries, old pubs and food and wine specialty shops.

Visit the winegrowers at the cellar door, or take in the warmth and hospitality or our superb restaurants and cafes with world-class wine lists, accompanied by locally grown gourmet cuisine.

The tradition of grape growers began around the time of the gold rush when the first grapevines were planted. Small scale vineyards flourished throughout the region and by 1865 nearly ninety acres of gardens and small farms in the Beechworth district were under cultivation. Today, North East Victoria is home to some of Australia’s finest boutique wineries and vineyards, all located no more than a short distance away. Visit either as a day trip or part of the Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail.

For a taste of history why not take a trip down memory lane and visit Murray Breweries, where you can visit the unique Cellar Museum and sample gourmet cordials of longforgotten flavours, made to time-honoured recipes.
